 Corinium Squares

November 2017

Welcome to another Newsletter.

First a quick look back..........

Thursday 5th October 2017. Graduation.

Well done to our 5 new dancers who graduated with distinction and are now full members of Corinium Squares.

Welcome to the Club, Jane, Beryl, Elizabeth,Jill and Alistair. The examination was followed by a good “pot – luck” supper and with Jill’s marvellous cake.

Remember square dancing is “Fun and friendship” set to music!

Try not to break down, but if you do, smile and get back into the dance!!

Saturday 21 October 2017. Autumn Dance.

What a pity so few turned up for this dance. Where were you? After the response at the AGM regarding Saturday dances the Committee expected a good turnout. But it was not be!!

Caller Cliff Anderton gave us a great evening full of fun dances.

We were able to present a cheque for £350 to Linda from the Willow trust and she spoke about the activities of the charity. The amount could have been more if we had more dancers.

Saturday 11th November 2017.

Well done to those 13 members who ventured to Thornbury Squares in appalling weather for their Birthday Dance.

A great evening with Ian McConnell calling.

Thursday 16th November 2017.

No dancing on this occasion. Very sorry but I was unable to find a suitable hall for us to use. If anyone knows of a hall that is not regularly booked on Thursdays then please let me know but in my experience all the useable halls have regular bookings.

And now, coming events:-

Thursday 14th December 2017.

Christmas Party.

Phyllis is busy sorting out what you have to bring to the party. We would like you to arrive between 1900 and 1915 with your food and hand it in to the ladies of the kitchen.

If for any reason you cannot make the party remember to either get someone to bring your food or advise Phyllis of the circumstances.

Mulled wine will be served from 1915 to 1930 and then we all sit down for supper.

After that we will have a little carol singing before the arrival of Father Christmas. If you wish to participate in the exchange of presents please bring a gift for someone of the same gender and place it in the appropriate box “HIS” or “HERS”. Or maybe “Lady” “Gentleman”.

Try not to exceed £3 for the present.

There will also be a charity box for you to donate to instead of giving Christmas Cards. This has worked well in the past. I will put a notice on the board later to remind you all of what to bring! (Knife/fork/spoon etc)
