Other Bits.

Transport to away dances.

It has been suggested that it might encourage members to go to other club dances if we provided transport to and from.

We have, therefore, looked at the possibility of running a coach from Cheltenham to Thornbury via Cirencester, for their birthday Dance on Saturday 11 November. Whilst we are still making enquiries with various coach operators, initial advice is that the cost would be between £10 and £12 per person.

Would you be prepared to join in this venture?

If so, please advise Peter or myself as soon as possible.

If we do not get enough support then transport can always be arranged with car drivers if you feel that you need lift.

Possible Whist Drive.

How do you feel about indulging in a Whist Drive?

The Committee are thinking about organising a whist drive on a Saturday evening during February or March next year. How good are you at cards??

If you feel that it is something that you would partake in then please let Phil or Jean know and, if enough support, we will see what can be arranged.

Data Protection Act.

You will recall at the AGM there was some discussion about advising members of other members address details etc.

I have consulted legal experts and done some further research into this matter and it transpires that it is possible for Clubs to distribute members TELEPHONE NUMBERS only without breaking any DPA rules. However, if any member does not want his/her number distributed then they must say so.

Our Treasurer tells me that when he updated our members’ details a couple of years ago you all filled in membership application forms with addresses etc. Also on that form some members indicated that they did not wish their details to be distributed. The Committee plan to circulate members telephone numbers only to other members unless you have already indicated that you do not wish to participate. Alternatively, if you have changed your mind and want to alter your form then please see Huw.

We plan to issue the list sometime around October.
