Christmas came early this year at Corinium - on July 28th to be precise, when we had a ‘Christmas in July’ evening. About seventy dancers were present, with a substantial number from Cheltenham Swinging Squares joining us, and Peter took the opportunity to use a lot of his Christmas records, backed up by Malcolm, Howard (with a dance set to a rendering of O Little town of Bethlehem), John, and Sue from Cheltenham with her own Christmas version of ‘Summer Sounds’. Almost all the dancing was to Singing calls, with  a little foray into Grand Slide and Carousel Promenade to relieve the monotony of too many Grand Squares.
The Christmas theme was continued with lots of gifts - presentations of flowers to Delma, Jane and John as they retire from the Committee this year  (John had wine in lieu of flowers !), Joan, for hosting our recent Barbeque,  Margaret, for standing in as our Newspaper correspondent and to Phyllis (for being Phyllis).
We also  welcomed nine new dancers into Club membership following their completion of the Mainstream programme. These were Paul and Jan Stephens, Tim and Linda Ballinger, Sally Waldron, Linsey Hayward, Jeannette Brunton, John Marshall and Alan Brazier. All were presented with their Graduation Certificates and Club Badges.
And to round off the evening, Howard presented a cheque for  £ 625 to a representative from Gloucestershire Air Ambulance (the Club’s Charity for the year).
